The Water Treatment process Engineer takes a hands-on technical role in the Technical Community within SLB.

This position will operate from our New Energy Process Engineering Center (NEPEC) in Houston, TX. Such position might require some international responsibilities and occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities

The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing water treatment facility and requirements from the many different ongoing projects related to our SLB New Energy ventures, such as: Lithium and other critical minerals extraction process, Hydrogen production, Geothermal plants, to name a few. This engagement entails, but it is not limited to, conceptualizing products, building pilot and or field trial units, validating solutions, building product roadmaps, amongst other tasks.

The Engineer will have full engagement with all disciplines required to deliver any given New Product, which potential involves participatation in field validation exercise, and critical laboratory work.

Previous Experience and Competencies

Involvement in the design and development of Pilot or Field Trial Units. A solid understanding on the process, documents, and parts required for building a pilot unit such as for example PFDs, P&IDs, GAs , datasheets, instrument lists, procurement of the parts, risk assessments, oil and gas industry standard codes, vessels, tanks, fittings, hoses, valves, amongst other critical steps and items required for building a Pilot Unit.

Prior experience in operations is helpful, though experience in Water Treatment is a must have.

5-10 years of experience in full scale water treatment expertise and purification methods, ideally in the mining or metals processing industry. Expérience in impurity removal and purification methods such as Ion Exchange and Membrane Separations (NF,UF and RO) will be an asset.

Previous technical experience in developing water treatment flow sheets for metals extraction, organic removal and purification will be an advantage.

Candidate Profile

Education and Certification/License Credentials

  • Advanced Degree (MS, PhD) in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Environmental, or other relevant technical discipline.

Personal Characteristics

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment where some functions are shared.
