Schlumberger Laboratory Engineer in Florence, United States

JOB SUMMARY:

The Laboratory Engineer plays a crucial role in conducting customer-specific tests, generating test data reports, and collaborating with the Technical Support Department to ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries related to laboratory tests. This position involves working closely with engineering to enhance Sweco equipment and providing essential testing support for new product releases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedule and perform laboratory tests on equipment.

  • Write comprehensive test reports and maintain an adequate inventory of research lab materials and equipment.

  • Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, adhering to regulatory requirements.

  • Provide sales support for customers visiting the test lab.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to comply with regulatory and ISO requirements.

  • Evaluate new equipment and raw materials for safety compliance.

  • Oversee the purchasing of supplies needed for general lab use.

  • Manage inventory control of customer test samples.

  • Maintain appropriate levels of laboratory supplies.

  • Oversee procurement of supplies and preventive maintenance of facility equipment.

  • Review customers' Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for test samples.

  • Provide technical assistance via various communication channels.

  • Complete technical product reports and reports on encountered product problems.

  • Facilitate open and effective communication between field sales, customer service, and sales management.

  • Provide sales support for customers visiting field test equipment, as requested.

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain and adjust Sweco equipment.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 45 pounds may be necessary.

  • Work around machinery and moving parts.

  • Work closely with others in a collaborative environment.

  • Handling and testing of samples requiring adherence to OSHA and SWECO safety policies.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Address requests from management in a timely manner.

  • Conduct quality and safety audits as required.

  • Perform field testing, including driving to customer sites to provide requested services.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical training required, preferably with an Engineering degree.

  • Strong interpersonal and sales skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel if required.

  • Proactive with the ability to work effectively with minimal direction.

  • Excellent analytical, administrative, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 requirements and continuous improvement methods.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
