Schlumberger Equipment Operator in Georgetown, Guyana

The Equipment Operator is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers. The Equipment Operator identifies opportunities to improve service delivery, and assists field and maintenance crews with preparing equipment for operations.

  • Learn basic oil well operations including identifying different rig types and drill string components, BOP procedures and equipment, HSE procedures and guidelines, and other safety and service protocols and guidelines under the direct supervision

  • Prepare for jobs by assisting with tool maintenance, pre-job and post-job tool checkout

  • Assist rigging up and down the equipment

  • Assist in tool string make-ups and assembly of tools

  • Assist with maintaining, cleaning, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment

  • Performing basic duties at the well site and at the shop

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to promote safe and efficient operations

  • Promoting and maintaining good customer relations

  • Communicate with co-workers, superiors, company men, and rig supervisors on the well site

  • Perform other related or site-specific duties as required

  • Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.

  • Participate in pre-job and Toolbox meetings with crew members.

  • Maintain good, safe working order of equipment according to standards, reporting problems or deviations.

  • Ensure individual and crew work safety.

  • Prepare equipment for rig up and rig down times.

  • Operate the equipment according to competency level and job requirement.

  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.

  • Maintain the required safety training.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Technician Diploma or related experience in mechanical, technical or similar field

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
