Job Description:

The Heat Exchanger Métier has deep, specialized knowledge in heat exchanger design and construction. The Heat Exchanger Métier is an internal and external resource for heat exchanger engineering support, performs technical peer reviews, provides support for tenders and execution, and generally provides oversight in their area of expertise.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide engineering guidance and oversight to support heat exchanger (HEX) applications for MPS tendering, projects, services, or standardization, as required by the business.

  2. Mentor and train global MPS engineers on the fundamentals of HEX design and manufacturing.

  3. Support the evaluation of customer inquiries and specifications, perform and/or review thermal design calculations, and help specify optimal HEXs for proposal and project applications.

  4. Review vendor HEX quotations, check thermal / mechanical design, and provide recommendations for design optimization.

  5. Provide technical input and expert guidance in vendor and client meetings, as required.

  6. Participate in customer’s HAZOP, internal HAZOP, or other safety studies.

  7. Perform Peer Reviews of team design work including proposals, cost estimates, deliverables, fabrication drawings, and technical requisitions.

  8. Provide process and mechanical technical support for trouble shooting heat exchangers for projects, facilities, or services applications.

  9. Work with MPS supply chain to build relationships with key global HEX suppliers to identify the best solutions for our technologies and applications.

  10. Provide input to the “Lessons Learned” process and utilize findings from the process to update tools and processes.

  11. Ensure consistent and effective implementation of MPS engineering standards and processes.

  12. Work independently without supervision.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

  2. Minimum 15 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry

  3. In depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design.

  4. Highly competent in heat exchanger design and sizing.

  5. Clear understanding of the various raw material types, grades, and selection criteria.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Ability to utilize Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering design programs.

  2. Good communication skills at all levels of the business.

  3. Self-motivation, initiative, and commitment.

  4. This is an office-based position, but there may be a requirement for the individual to travel with this position, both regional and international.

  5. This position involves tendering/project support and front-end sales support, including direct contact with external clients and a degree of interface with senior managers and directors within the company. As a result, pressure in this role can be considerable at times.
