Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialised Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.

Over 300 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.

SHTC continues Research & Development investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.

Description and Scope

  • Implements sourcing plans/ tactics to effectively manage the sourcing activities related to his/ her assigned project portfolio

  • Provides sourcing and procurement support, ensuring parts are sourced in a cost-effective and timely manner from suitable vendors.

  • Works with the assigned project teams to meet critical project timelines, prioritizing work and communicating progress in cadence reviews/ through tracking mechanisms.

  • Defines part & assembly parameters for systematic Purchase Order release.

  • Assesses supplier capabilities and makes recommendations for new supplier onboarding.

  • Understands strategies for assigned commodities & proactively drive initiatives to meet departmental objectives

Deliverables:

  • Conducts RFI/Q/P (Request for Information/Quotation/Proposal) and bidding processes, minimizing risk, and maximizing value in terms of quality, delivery, and cost

  • Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers to meet specified quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

  • Ensures accurate system definition in SAP of part parameters for systematic Purchase Order release

  • Works closely with Procurement, planning, TLM and quality teams.

  • Selects a high-performance supply base for assigned portfolio, in accordance with short-list of approved suppliers

  • Evaluates current and prospective suppliers through supplier reviews, site visits and audits, in coordination with Supplier Quality teams, to assure supply capabilities, on-time delivery, quality and service.

  • Leads supplier onboarding process for newly identified suppliers

  • Executes contract negotiation and development in coordination with Sourcing Manager and Contract Specialists – typically NDA/SLB T&Cs implementation

  • Drives parts and process qualification, in coordination with Supplier Quality teams

  • Effectively communicates with/ maintains the highest degree of relationship between the Company and all levels of supplier personnel

  • Builds strong relationships with internal customers

  • Identifies opportunities and implements actions for continual improvement and process excellence.

  • Complies with all Schlumberger, EMS and local procedures applicable to the job function

Required Skills:

  • Commodity knowledge – basic knowledge of machined components, electromechanical assemblies, harnessing/ interconnection, PWA/ electronics all desirable

  • Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written

  • Process and quality improvement driven.

  • Understanding of data management and control principles

  • Strong time-management and task prioritization skills

  • Proficient in MS Office apps, SAP (favourable) or other ERP system

  • Detail-oriented with proven ability for accuracy.

Desirable Skills:

  • Purchasing and procurement experience

  • Basic commercial contracts knowledge (NDA/ T&Cs/ PA)

Qualification:

Studying towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Engineering.
